Discover Teaching at St Mary’s College – School Experience Days 2027–28
Curious about a career in teaching? Come and experience it for yourself!
Our ITT recruitment journey for 2027–28 is officially underway, and we're excited to be opening the doors of St Mary’s College to aspiring teachers through our DfE School Experience Programme.
Whether you're considering teaching as your next career move or are keen to explore what life in the classroom really looks like, our School Experience Days offer a fantastic opportunity to get a taste of the profession.
You'll spend the day immersed in your chosen subject department, observing experienced teachers, seeing learning in action and getting a real insight into the day-to-day life of a teacher. It's a brilliant chance to see the impact great teaching can have, experience the buzz of a busy school environment and start imagining yourself at the front of the classroom!
What to expect on the day
Our experience days will take place on selected Mondays at St Mary’s College, with visitors arriving from 9.45am. You'll have the opportunity to observe lessons across Periods 2–5, giving you a valuable insight into different aspects of teaching and learning.

-
1.05–3.35pm | Periods 4 and 5: More classroom experience – Head back into the classroom for your afternoon observations, seeing more of the subject, students and teaching approaches in action.
-
3.35pm | Time to reflect and say goodbye – Your final lesson observation will finish, and you'll be escorted back to reception to sign out.
Take your first step towards teaching!
A School Experience Day is more than just watching lessons – it's an opportunity to explore your passion for your subject, discover the rewards and realities of teaching and decide whether a career in education could be right for you.
Come along, get involved, ask questions and see where a future in teaching could take you.
